The Executive Order
In July of 2023, Governor Wes Moore authorized the Maryland 250 Commission to develop a commemoration of Maryland’s many contributions to America’s 250 years. With a charge to create the most inclusive commemoration in state history, we set out to build what will culminate in 2026—a statewide observance that recognizes all Marylanders’ journeys toward life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Fall has an award-winning Autumn Glory Festival with leaves that reach colors you could only dream of! Next, is winter, ice fishing, snow tubing, sled riding and downhill skiing fill your days and star filled skies fill your nights! Spring, everything is new again, daffodils, birds coming back, fresh grass, flowers blooming and trees budding. You won’t be bored in Garrett County!
