The Maryland Two Fifty Commission is Hiring!

The Maryland Two Fifty Commission is a Maryland State Commission charged by Executive Order with developing, encouraging, and executing an inclusive statewide commemoration of America’s 250th birthday based on the themes of history, civics, and service. The 250th is a special, once in a generation, national commemoration with state and local execution.
The Commission is hiring two Outreach Specialists to serve from September 2025 through June 2026, through the Maryland Department of Service and Civic Innovation Maryland Corps / Service Year Option program. These are full-time paid positions ($15 per hour) with a $6,000 educational stipend upon successful completion. Both positions are based in Crownsville, Maryland, with a hybrid work schedule. We are looking for team players with a positive attitude who are good communicators, flexible, detailed oriented, reliable, tech savvy, and interested in the work of the Commission.
Service Year Option is a program for individuals who have graduated from a Maryland high school or earned an equivalent diploma or certificate since 2022. Maryland residency is required. Maryland Corps is open to eligible adults age 18 and older, and does not require a high school diploma or equivalent. These are great opportunities for students taking a gap year before or after college.
One position is focused on graphic and digital design, the other is focused on history.

– The historian will manage outreach and be the lead for a statewide network of partners; create and search for history content for social media and website including untold stories; work on special projects; and assist with program, meeting, and event planning, and other duties as assigned.
