American Railroading 200

As the nation’s first common-carrier railroad was chartered in 1827, the railroad industry will celebrate 200 years of shaping America in 2027. The railroad carried ideas, technology, and culture across the country and continues to shape our country’s economy today.

Deep Creek Lake 100

After work began to build a hydroelectric dam in 1923, Deep Creek Lake reached full capacity in May 1925. Over the last 100 years, Deep Creek Lake has become an essential component of Garrett County’s rich natural heritage.

Peggy Stewart 250

The burning of the Peggy Stewart, remembered as Annapolis’s Boston Tea Party, occurred as part of colonists’ protest against British rule in 1774. In 2024, Annapolis commemorated the anniversary of this historic protest.
